What is going on beautiful people its your boy Blu Games. Welcome back to Microsoft Flight Simulator. This is the Mooney M20R Ovation by Carenado.

The Mooney M20R Ovation is a 4-seater General Aviation aircraft with a top speed of 197kts, cruises around 174kts with a max altitude of 20,000ft and 1,350nm range.

As expected from Carenado this Mooney M20R Ovation looks great. The Exterior has been modeled with extreme accuracy, and textures really reflect the light just right. This is one of the few GA aircraft with speed-brakes and they are modeled here. Also the interior, the seats, carpet, cargo area, sun shades & cockpit instruments all textured and detailed very nicely. There are a few areas that look a bit lower quality but you have to put a magnifying glass to it. You wouldn’t see it in any normal operation with your graphics turned up. My only complaint visually is the extreme icing on the exterior.

Now for performance I am on ultra settings, my specs are in the description. I have not seen any significant frame loss. My frames have remained smooth with the aircraft through all weather conditions and heavily populated areas.

Lets talk about systems..

First lets make it clear that this is not a quote unquote study level aircraft and it doesn’t claim to be. That being said all the buttons are clickable and functional. Despite the advertised custom autopilot

All the systems & avionics are pretty much the same as the default GA aircraft. Which means that you will battle the same issues in the autopilot that you get in the rest of the Asobo fleet. The good news is that as Asobo updates and improve their General Aviation planes so will this one. I did also have an issue with the transponder not working currently on Vatsim not sure if that’s a Carenado problem or Asobo.

Which brings me to physics or some would call flight model. Carenado has created a custom flight model for the ovation and you can feel the difference for sure only a real Mooney Ovation pilot can tell you how accurate it is but in my research it does reflect many of the Ovations original characteristics from take off to landing.

As far as difficulty this plane is not hard to fly, its pretty quick and smooth. The nose actually sits 4 and 1/2 degress up so it takes a little getting used to during landing but a fairly easy plane to learn and fly. And I also recommend flying more planes without glass cockpits & g1000s.

And like I said before you can buy this plane from the market place for $24.99 USD and it installs right in your simulator automatically after purchase. So finally the brings us to sound.

I think they did a pretty good job with the sound. A big upgrade from their recent X-Plane releases.

So my final rating for the Carenado Mooney M20R Ovation is going to be 3 out of 5 stars. I honestly don’t have many majors complaints about this plane. Its for sure an upgrade from the default GA aircraft its a lot of fun to fly. It’s perfect for VFR flying, or longer cross country flights. I know that even after this review I will be a frequent flyer so yes I would recommend it. And I think it has been fairly priced.
